JAG(UK) Terms and Conditions

The JAG(UK) website is intended for use by professionals working in local authorities and similar bodies whose principal activities are governed by highways, street, road and traffic management legislation.

Professionals wishing to join should fill in an application form, to be processed by JAG(UK), who retains the right to refuse membership and to cancel the membership of any Member at any time (and will not do so without explaining why).

Use of the JAG(UK) website (www.jaguk.org) is governed by these Terms and Conditions. If a Member does not accept these terms and conditions s/he should leave the website.

Members agree to maintain accurate contact details in the site database, recognise that their details will be shown to other Members and give permission for other Members to access those details. Members agree not to use the contact details outside of their normal course of business, and never to use them for marketing or general mailing purposes. JAG(UK) management and administration may use a Member’s details for activities associated with the operation of JAG(UK). Non-members and Members based outside the European Union will not be given access to Members’ contact details.

By becoming a Member of JAG(UK) you are agreeing to your details becoming available on www.londonstreetworks.net (LSW) and you are adhering to the LSW terms and conditions. Your Data supplied as part of your Membership profile will be able to be seen by other users of JAG(UK) and LSW so make sure you only provide information you are happy to be seen in this way. You can control some of the information other users see using your "Profile" page.

Except as set out above your data will be kept private and confidential, will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent and will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By becoming a Member and/or using the website you are agreeing to your data being used as set out above.

JAG(UK) may at any time revise these Terms and Conditions without notice. It is up to the user regularly to review the Terms and Conditions in case there are any changes. Continued use of the JAG(UK) website after a change has been made is treated as acceptance of that change by the user.

While JAG(UK) tries hard to ensure that its website is functioning correctly and is as accurate as possible, this will not always be achievable and therefore the following disclaimer applies.

The website is provided "as is" without any representation or endorsement made and without warranty of any kind whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, compatibility, non-infringement, accuracy and security. JAG(UK) does not guarantee or represent that the content and/or facilities available or accessible via these websites will always be accurate, complete or current or that access to its website will be uninterrupted.

JAG(UK) expressly disclaims all liability for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage occasioned from the use or inability to use this website, whether directly or indirectly resulting from inaccuracies, defects, viruses, errors - whether typographical or otherwise - omissions, out of date information or otherwise.

Accessing the website and the downloading of material from it is done entirely at the user's own risk. The user, and not JAG(UK), will be entirely responsible for any resulting damage to software or computer systems and/or any resulting loss of data even if JAG(UK) has been advised of the possibility of such damage.

The website may contain links to other websites over which JAG(UK) has no control. Such links are supplied solely for the convenience of users. JAG(UK) is not responsible for the contents or reliability of the linked websites and does not necessarily endorse the views expressed within them or the organisation or persons providing them in any way. JAG(UK) does not guarantee that these links will work all of the time and has no control over the availability of the linked pages.

Providers of other websites may place text-based links only to the home page at www.jaguk.org. However such links must not open the JAG(UK) pages into frames within another website. Pages from the JAG(UK) website must be loaded into the user's entire browser window. Use may not be made of the JAG(UK) logo for promotional or linking purposes unless prior approval in writing has been given. Please contact the Webmaster for further details on obtaining such approval.

These terms and conditions will be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes between a user and JAG(UK) arising out of the access or use of the website. Omission by JAG(UK) to exercise any right under these terms and conditions will not constitute a waiver of such right unless expressly stated by JAG(UK) in writing.

Unless expressly stated the copyright and other intellectual property rights (such as design rights, trademarks, patents etc.) in any material provided on the JAG(UK) website remains the property of JAG(UK) (or as the case may be another rightful owner). JAG(UK) owned material on the website, including text and images, may not be printed, copied, reproduced, republished, downloaded, posted, displayed, modified, reused, broadcast or transmitted in any way, except for the user's own personal non-commercial use or in the execution of a Member's industry-related employment. Written permission for any other type of use must be obtained - the Webmaster may be contacted for details.

JAG(UK) processes personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. When we collect data we will provide you with a data protection notice, unless all the necessary information is already stated.

Personal data is collected from Members or those applying for membership, by various methods and in various situations, for example it may be collected by forms, the Internet and by telephone. It may be collected when you log onto the website, register for conferences we organise or contact us with enquiries. This data will be held for as long as required for JAG(UK) to fulfil its obligations.

If you give us information about another person on their behalf, we may ask you to confirm that you have been appointed to act for them (or you have the relevant legal authority), to consent to the processing of their personal data, including sensitive personal data, and to receive data protection notices on their behalf.

From time to time JAG(UK) may contact you for research purposes. You are under no obligation to participate in this research.

When we collect personal data from you, JAG(UK) will tell you if we would like to send you information about our products and services and industry-related issues and give you the opportunity to not receive this information (i.e. opt out). If we intend to share your data with third parties for any purposes, we will tell you about this and only do so if you have given your consent (i.e. opt in). You may also tell us at any time that you no longer wish to receive this information (our contact details are given below).

JAG(UK) take appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure that your personal data are processed securely.

The JAG(UK) website uses cookies to distinguish a Member's visit to the site from the other Members concurrently using the site.

Once your visit to JAG(UK) has ended, your visit "cookie" will be disabled. It will not monitor your Internet use outside of JAG(UK). A Member may decide to store a cookie on their computer by clicking 'remember me' at logon, so that subsequent visits to the website by the Member from that computer will not require an additional login. This cookie will not store personal information, and will only be active during your visits to JAG(UK).

From time to time cookies may be used for purposes such as undertaking online surveys (a cookie could be placed on a person's computer when undertaking the survey to ensure that they are not asked to do so again). Session cookies (that do not persist after the session has ended) may be used where necessary for the functionality of our website.

The views posted within the discussion forums in no way reflect the official views of the authors' organisations, JAG(UK), its representatives or its sponsors. Posts are the sole responsibility of the author and no guarantee can be made for the accuracy or integrity of the content of the post. In the event that a post appears to be inappropriate, please contact the Webmaster.

By participating in the JAG(UK) discussion forums a Member is agreeing to the following conditions. Impersonation of another person is forbidden. Do not use strong language. Avoid terms and expressions that may offend others. Personal attacks are not acceptable. Any material of a discriminatory or threatening nature is not acceptable. This includes offensive comments, language intended to incite hatred or discrimination based on appearance, race, sexuality, religion, age, gender, lifestyle, medical condition or disability.
